Mr. (HC) Ir. Ciputra – Founder and Chairman of Ciputra Group has passed away at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore on 27 November 27 2019 at 1:05 AM (Singapore time).

“We have truly lost a beloved father, grandfather, and outstanding leader who is always the ideal model for our descendants and the Ciputra Group” Ms. Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata – the eldest daughter of Mr. Ciputra expressed her grief for her late father.
Mr. Ciputra is the founder and chairman of Ciputra Group. He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1960 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Tarumanagara University for his dedication and achievements in Indonesian property development.
Ciputra Group, one of world leading groups in new urban development, was established in 1981. Starting with only 5 members, Ciputra Group now owns a network of more than 100 subsidiaries, pioneers in the field of large-scale property development and creates green and modern urban communities. Ciputra Group has successfully developed 110 property projects ranging from 500 hectares to 6,000 hectares in Indonesia and countries worldwide.
Pioneer in creating high-end property in Vietnam

Ciputra Group took its first steps to Vietnam with the Pullman 5-star international hotel project. After the success of such project and extensive experience in property development, Ciputra Group has gained the trust of the Vietnamese government when the Prime Minister has approved the Nam Thang Long – Ciputra Hanoi, the first large-scale property project in Vietnam. The project was granted the Investment License No. 1792/GP by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in 1996.

Since the 2000s, when the whole market was new and suspicious about the concept of a high – end apartment or a closed – urban model, Ciputra Hanoi has found the superiority of the “All in one” model. Accordingly, the master plan of Ciputra Hanoi included synchronous internal transport infrastructure, green landscape and high – end living facilities with the aim of meeting various needs of the residents. After nearly 20 years of construction and development in Hanoi, Ciputra Hanoi currently is still the first choice for an ideal residence of prestigious residents and becomes a symbol of high-end life in Hanoi.
Instiller of entrepreneurship spirit
As an entrepreneur with a splendid career from scratch, in 2016, Ciputra was one of the richest people in Indonesia with total assets of USD1.45 billion (according to Globe Asia Magazine). He has inspired enthusiasm and desire for dedication and success to millions of young generations. His famous saying “Transform Trash into Gold” is a guideline for the relentless efforts to create miracles, encourage each individual to use all their intellect, creativity and determination to create prosperity, not only for themselves but for the prosperity of the whole society. He has also determined his mission to inspire and help 4 million young entrepreneurs on the way to start their business within 25 years.
Philanthropist with great contributions
Chairman Ciputra is also famous as one of the largest philanthropists in Indonesia, the founder and chairman of many charities devoted to education, arts, sports, and disaster relief. In particular, he has devoted a lot of dedication to the development of Indonesian education. He has been the founder of more than 10 educational institutes, from preschool to university in the past 35 years.
Mr. Ciputra with various volunteer activities
He has a strong belief that education is the key to a bright future for the nation. A developed nation needs the contribution of powerful companies and corporations where knowledge is used as enduring power which needs to be seeded from the first years of one’s life. Therefore, he submitted to the government the application of the start-up education program, which promoted the sense of independence and autonomy in all levels of education from kindergarten to university. On 29 October 2009, at the Indonesian National Summit, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono approved his proposal and asked the ministers to start applying such educational project to the national education system.
With his achievements and dedication for decades, Mr. Ciputra has been awarded more than 80 prestigious awards in many fields by national and worldwide prestigious organizations, including The Brand Laureate Brand ICON Lifetime Achievement Award Leadership 2018 by Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF) and the Lifetime Achievement Award for many consecutive years.
Mr. Ciputra has lived a fulfilling and meaningful life as a person inspiring great living and working for generations. We pray for his soul to rest in eternity.
